Brittany Anderson ran a personal best in preliminary rounds at the American Track League on Sunday (7 Feb) in Arkansas, USA.
Anderson broke eight seconds for the first time when she crossed the line in 7.96 seconds behind Tiffany Porter of Great Britain. Porter ran 7.95.
Anderson beat her previous best of 8.02 done in New York in February 2020.
Russell Burton, the other Jamaican run the field, ran 8.41 for the sixth fastest time. She is also into the final set for 6:49 pm EST (5:49 Jamaica time).

Americans Gabbu Cunningham, 8.10 and Ashley Spencer, 8.29 and Isabelle Pedersen of Norway, 8.32 will all return for the final.
Christania Williams, for the third time this season, ran 7.18. She won heat 1 of the women’s 60m dash and will face heat two winner and Nigerian Blessing Okagbare, who topped heat 2 in 7.17.
At the first meet in this series, Okagbare ran 7.17 to beat Williams, 7.18.
Andre Ewers failed to make the final of the men’s 60m. Ewers’ 6.75 for fourth in heat two and ninth overall did not make it. Americans Ronnie Baker, 6.58 and Trayvon Bromell, 6.61 lead the way.
Bromell is the world’s leader with 6.48.
