Brittany Anderson wins silver at Wold U20 Championships

Britany Anderson was in top form at Monday’s (31 May) Duval County Challenge in Jacksonville, Florida.

The 20-year-old went below her 100m hurdles personal best of 12.71 twice in less than two hours.

In the prelims, Anderson was impressive, running a personal best 12.58 seconds to finish close behind Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico, 12.50.
Danielle Williams, 12.66, finished behind Christina Clemons, 12.59 in another heat (+1.0m/s).

In the final, Anderson trailed to the entire race. She, however, came off the last hurdle and powered home in 12.59 seconds.
American Christina Clemons dropped to second in 12.64 and Jamaican Danielle Williams finished third in 12.65.

“Im super excited. I’m so happy right now. I just want to thank God because if it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be pulling through right now,” said Anderson.

Camacho-Quinn false start in the final.

Omar McLeod, 13.16(+1.9m/s) and Grant Holloway, 13.15 (+1.3m/s), were the two fastest from the men’s 110m hurdles prelims. McLeod, however, was missing in the final, leaving Holloway to run away the winner in 13.10 ahead of Devon Allen 13.22.
Jamaican Orlando Bennett ran 13.47 for fifth.

In the primary 400m race, Christopher Taylor finished fourth in 45.75. The event was won by Michael Cherry of the USA in 44.74 ahead of his compatriot Justin Robinson, 45.00.

Deon Lendore of Trinidad and Tobago took third in 45.16.

Javon Francis took his section of the men’s 400m in 45.84 ahead of Americans Quintaveon Poole, 45.87 and Myles Pringle, 46.11.

Allyson Felix was the women’s 400m winner. She crossed the line in 50.66 ahead of fellow Americans Wadeline Jonathas, 51.00 and Gabrielle Thomas, 51.00.

Americans Erriyon Knighton, 20.11 and Trayvon Bromell, 20.20, were the top two in the men’s 200m. Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain finished third in 20.30.

American Shamier Little topped the women’s 400m hurdles in 53.12 ahead of Jamaicans Ronda Whyte, 54.33 and Shiann Salmon, 54.97.
Jamaican Leah Nugent was seventh in 58.22.

World champion and record holder Daiilah Muhammad topped her women’s 400m hurdles section in 55.01. In this same race, Yanique Haye-Smith of TKS ran 56.77 for fourth, and Sparkle McKnight of Trinidad and Tobago finished fifth in 56.82.
