Jamaica's Briana Williams tests positive for banned substance

Briana Williams is in Jamaica’s team for the Doha 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Qatar. See Video of announcement and team below.

Williams, who tested positive at the Jamaica Trials in June, is named to the team pending the outcome of her case on 25 Sept.

She is scheduled to appear before the Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (IADP) on September 23-25. The IAAF World Championships starts on 27 Sept and ends on 6 Oct.

Meanwhile, Akeem Bloomfield is named to contest the men’s 400m and 4×400. Bloomfield ran the 200m at Trials and finished fourth.

Bloomfield’s training partner, Nathon Allen, who did not participate at the Trials, is selected to the 4x400m squad.

  1. I am uncomfortable with Ato Bolden as her coach. I don’t like him and these allegations are my worst fears come true.
    Remember, in 2008 he was the one who started the Show boating argument regarding Usain.
    He has never meant Jamaica well so what is he doing coaching a Jamaican Diaspora Athlete?

  3. Carelessness on the part of the Coach put the child in this very uncomfortable situation.how could you allowed her mother to administer medication to her at a track meet without the necessary checks and balance and declaration.unacceptable.
