Briana Williams and Allyson Felix face off over 60m at the 113th NYRR Millrose Games

Jamaica’s sprint sensation Briana Williams is “excited” about racing against American legend Allyson Felix, someone she always “look up to”, at Saturday’s (8 Feb) 113th NYRR Millrose Games.

Williams, who has clocked three personal bests in three 60m races this season, looks forward to the challenge at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York.

“I’m excited about the line-up. I’ve been looking up to Allyson ever since I started track so this is pretty awesome that I get to race against her. She has accomplished so much, especially at a young age.” she said.

It will be the first time the 17-year-old sprinter will enter the starting blocks alongside track and field’s most decorated athlete. Felix is a six-time Olympic gold medalist and 13-time world champion.

Coach Ato Boldon sees this as just another 60m race in William’s 2020 preparation, “Training has been exceptional, so I expect another PR from Briana this weekend. She has run against the two Olympic 100m champions on multiple occasions…she won’t be overwhelmed by the spotlight.”

Williams opened her 2020 season with a personal best 7.25 seconds at the Clemson University’s Orange & Purple Elite Invitational on 4 Jan, then stopped the clock in 7.15 seconds to top the field at the Queens/Grace Jackson Meet on 25 Jan.

The women’s 60m will also include Jamaica’s Trudy Ann Williamson, along with the USA’s Morolake Akinsun, Hannah Cunliffe, Teahna Daniels, Javianne Oliver, Deajah Stevens and Germany’s Tatjana Pinto.

  1. We will all see the outcome on Saturday…we all talking about Briana and Allyson but none of you remembers Daniels and I think she will be the winner .

  2. You all got to remember its 60 meters and Brianna have the quickest start of any athlete, by the time felix start to gain momentum the race is over, Brianna gonna do 6.80

  3. I want to see Felix with McLaughlin and Muhammad for the 4 by 400 4 by 200 let Muhammad lead off Let Felix run the second leg McLaughlin run the third leg and use the same girl that was the anchor in the world games ! They might just win the world record from their 2012 team ?

  4. This could be like a young Kobe Bryant at the 1998 NBA All-Star Game when he went head to head with MJ himself. It’s always intriguing when the past and future collide in the present.

  5. Why does it seems that so many Brianna haters exist. Win or loose it is called experience and preparation. Run against Allyson and do well my girl. Allyson is another runner like anyone else, she is not unbeatable.

  6. U people really think Briana Williams ready for the legendary Allyson Felix … Don’t watch Felix run the other day, she always runs well with competition.
I think Felix has a 7.1 in her for this weekend and maybe, just maybe Briana will fall to the pressure
