Jamaica’s rising sprint star Briana Williams has escaped with a public reprimand for a failed drug test at Jamaica Trials in June.

The decision was handed down today (26 Sept) by the Independent Anti-Doping Disciplinary Panel (IADP) panel, chaired by Kent Gammon and included Dr Marjorie Vassell and Ms Denise Forrest.

“Public reprimand and no period of ineligibility,” was the decision arrived at by the panel according to information reaching Trackalerts.com

Williams tested positive for the banned diuretic Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) at the Jamaica Trials in June.

Statement Below:

“The IADP is unanimously persuaded to the standard of proof on the evidence presented that the athlete, Miss Briana Williams, was in breach of article 2.1 of the 2015 Anti-Doping Rules as she had in her body a specified substance namely “Hydrochlorothiazide”.

“The IADP finds that the athlete has established no significant fault or negligence as she was given tablets by her guardian and had no intention to cheat in her In-Competition sprint event on 21st June 2019. The IADP was referred to article 10.5.1.1 of the Anti-Doping In Sport Rules and this is relied on in its findings.

“In the circumstances of this case, the athlete is reprimanded without any period of ineligibility.

“The IADP recommends that the athlete undergoes another education programme on Anti-Doping In Sports Rules as soon as JADCO carries out same.”

  1. Hope she does well and learn from this experience. Even though it seemed to have been unintentional she is ultimately responsible for what she injests. Things like this will always put a spot on her career.

  2. Danny Clarke ???? I’m from Brooklyn though dont live there anymore, living good though! And again…I never said Canada was an island I know better than especially since I’ve travel the Caribbean for years. Now male bitch you still mad? ????

  3. I was born in Halifax Nova Scotia where I still have a house that I own and also one in Barbados where I now live. I’m proud of who I am and where I live. Doubt you could say the same American trash. What you own? Not a mirror fa sure

  4. Is Canada an island? Woman you really rasshole ignorant. And if you’re referring to the Caribbean, I can assure you that no Caribbean islands are as shitty as where you live, probably Brooklyn or the Bronx. And we better looking than you with your sponge Bob looking self

  5. Jealous of an American. Bitch please. I’m from Canada and live in Barbados. You have absolutely nothing that I want. You can’t even walk or drive in peace. Always looking over your shoulder for a white cop.

  6. So does this mean she is eligible for selection? And if she is, what was Steve Francis agenda for calling her ineligible and JAAA decision illegal- was he trying to get that other girl to get Briana Williams spot? (#badmind??)

  7. I’m not rude to you. I’m referring to your athletes like Gatlin and the others who intentionally took banned substances to enhance their performance. This was a young lady who as a minor took medicine her mother gave her. Big difference. And not sure why you brought up her coach. He played no part whatsoever. And I’m from the Caribbean. A born n bred and still living there today Bajan

  8. If you don’t know what’s going on, educate yourself first before making stupid comments. Her coach played absolutely no part in her mother giving her cold medication. We in the Caribbean are not dope dogs like your US athletes
