Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce are Jamaica’s 2015 Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year.

Bolt, despite not much appearances going into last year’s World Championships, turned up in Beijing and destroyed the world in both sprints 100m and 200m, then closed the show by anchoring Jamaica to victory in the 4x100m relay.

Dressed in grey suit, blue shirt and tie, he regained the award he lost in 2014 to boxer, Nicholas Walters. It was his sixth time winning the award.

Bolt, who was quick to thank his fans and coach for their support during the year, also said, “I want to thank God and I promise I will try to do my best this season.”

The ever-elegant Fraser-Pryce, who for the occasion wore a black sleeveless dress with a split up the right leg, left with the top trophy taken home by swimmer, Alia Atkinson last time.

With her two gold medals, 100m and 4x100m at last summer’s Beijing World Championships, she was an easy choice for the panel, headed by JOA boss Mike Fennell.

"I am honoured to be here collecting this award a third time,” she said while hailing the contribution of her coach Stephen Francis.

Danielle Williams, who shocked the world to take the women’s 100m hurdles, was second best to Fraser-Pryce, while shot putt world championships bronze medal winner, O’Dayne Richards took the runner-up spot for the male.
