Aisha Praught Leer for Tokyo 2020

After a record breaking Millrose Games weekend, the track world descends on Boston this Saturday (10 Feb) for the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, the last major invitational heading into the indoor national championships (world trials).

Fresh off her PR triumph in the 3000m, Aisha Praught-Leer will drop half the distance this week and try her legs in the 1500m. On the men’s side, compatriot Kemoy Campbell will focus on the metric mile as well this week.

Meanwhile, Jamaican Simoya Campbell will be busy squaring off with ½ of the quartet of American women (Charlene Lipsey and Raevyn Rogers) who are responsible for the new indoor 4×800 meter relay, in the open 800m.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Keston Bledman and St Kitts and Nevis’ Antoine Adams look to keep pace with American Christian Coleman’s fast start to the season which includes breaking countrymen Maurice Greene’s 19 -year-old world record.

In the Women’s 400m, surprise Outdoor World Champion Phyllis Francis and fellow American Natasha Hastings will highlight a largely American field.

In the men’s one lap, Trinibagonians Deon Lendore and Machel Cedenio will be the favorites, competing against up-and coming American Josephus Lyles and Jamaican Steven Gayle.

The Jesse Loubier Memorial men’s 300 field will also have Caribbean majority. New Professional Jareem Richards and fellow Trini Renny Quow will face off against Bralon Taplin of Grenada and Vernon Norwood of the U.S.
