American sprinter Kenny Bednarek was in stunning form on Monday (10 Aug) in Montverde, Florida.

The 21-year-old produced a personal best World leading 19.80 seconds (1.0m/s wind) to dominate the men’s 200m.

Canadian Rio 2016 Olympic Games sprint double medallist, was left stunned in 20.31 for second place.
Kyree King, 20.54 and Michael Cherry, 20.72 were third and fourth respectively.

Aaron Brown, also of Canada, won heat two in 20.24 ahead of Alonso Edward, 20.45.

Trayvon Bromell was the fastest in the 100m with windy 9.87 (+2.5m/s wind) in the men’s 100m final. He ran a legal 9.99 in an earlier in the heats (+1.6m/s).

Justin Gatlin, who 10.09 (legal) in the heats, returned to finish second 10.02 (2.5m/s wind) in the final.
Kenny Bednarek finished third with 10.02 in the final but had recorded 10.09 earlier.

Sha’Carri Richardson also confirmed top shape with windy 10.83 (+2.1m/s) in the final of the women’s 100m. She had earlier ran a legal 10.95 (+1.1m/s) in the heats.

Kourtney Johnson, who ran 11.15 and Kimberly Williams, 11.85 were second and third respectively.

In the women’s 200m, Richardson ran 22.00 PB (+1.3) to take the top spot ahead of Shakima Wimbley, 22.83 and Johnson 23.01.

Richardson’s time is the second-fastest in the world this year behind Shaunae Miller-Uibo’s 21.98 (2.0m/s wind).

  1. Jamaica in serious trouble with all these young American sprinters. I don’t care what anyone have to say, but this Richardson girl is going to be hard to beat com next year.

    Elaine Thompson-Herah nor Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce wont be able to touch this girl in 2021 and beyond.

    I bet Jamaicans don’t like to hear this…

    • We’ve heard it before about plenty others. The current Olympic and World Championship 100m champions still reside in Jamaica and I that won’t change for now. The 200m next year is more likely to go to the Bahamas or GB than the USA…
