Jamaican sprinter Sean Bailey won the men’s 400m at the Conference USA Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, the United States on Saturday (22 Feb).

Bailey, a senior at UTEP, won in 46.42 to be the only sub-47 runner on the day. Jayon Woodard of Charlotte finished second in 47.01 and Wellington Wright of Mid Tennessee State, third in 47.13.

Bailey was also second in the 200m, running 21.37 to finish behind
Western Kentucky’s Dartez Hamlin, 21.12.

Former St. Jago athlete, Bailey, also helped UTEP to win the men’s 4x400m in 3:12.18 ahead of Mid Tennessee State 3:12.30.

Jamaica’s Olympian Davian Clark is an assistant coach at UTEP.

Gabriel Nash of Charlotte, 6.71, beat Karlington Anunagba of North Texas, 6.73 in the men’s 60m dash.

Bashiru Abdullahi of UTSA ran 7.80 to win the men’s 60m hurdles.

Antiguan Sheldon Noble, representing Western Kentucky, finished 6th in the men’s long jump with 7.03m. Denzel Harper of Louisiana Tech won the event with a leap of 7.56m.

Cecilia Francis of Mid Tennessee State won the women’s 60m dash in 7.44.
Hannah Jackson of Rice ran 23.57 to take the 200m title and Maya Singletary of Charlotte, the 400m in 53.85.

Eusila Chepkemei of Mid Tennessee State ran 2:12.61.

Maribel Caicedo of UTEP topped the women’s 60m hurdles in 8.26 secs.

Chantoba Bright, also of UTEP, won the women’s long jump in 6.22m.
