Polish discus star Piotr Malachowski said that officials should consider postponing this year’s Tokyo Olympic Games because of the coronavirus epidemic.
Malachowski said this would help to protect the health of athletes.
“If these games get postponed and will take place this year in November or December, this will definitely be much better for athletes,” Reuters quoted the Polish star saying.
The outbreak of coronavirus has caused many qualifying events to be postponed or cancelled in the last two months. Some athletes are unable to train due to the containment measures in their country.
Countries including Colombia and Slovenia have called for the Games to be postponed if the coronavirus epidemic persists.
Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) said they would skip the event rather than to risk their athletes’ health.
European 2014 100m champion James Dasaolu aired his frustration at not being able to train at the British Athletics High Performance Centre in Loughborough due to coronavirus restrictions.
The 9.91secs runner wrote on Twitter: “Extremely disheartening to turn up to track today @lborouniversity Hipac to be denied entry @BritAthletics. Only funded athletes are allowed to train,” he said.
High Jump World champion Mutaz Essa Barshim writes: “I have to stay home except for when I train or shop for groceries. For me, it is not that big of a difference since I always stay at home. Of course, it has affected my training – the plan is not going as it is supposed to. We cannot access some of the facilities. And we have to cut the training sessions short. Luckily I am able to work with my coach. It is a very strange situation; it is the first time in my sports career to train without a target.

November or December is winter not summer Olympics
Did they check the weather in Japan that time..I think its winter Novemeber and December there..so that wont work. Its summer Olympics
