World 200m champion Dina Asher-Smith has been named Sunday Times sportswoman of the year for the second consecutive time.

Asher-Smith had a very good 2019 track and field season. She won the Diamond League 100m title.

Asher-Smith went on to become the first British woman to win a world 200m title in Doha 2019. She also finished second behind Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the women’s 100m.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson was runner-up.

Meanwhile, both Asher-Smith and Johnson-Thompson have been shortlisted for the 2019 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

For multi-eventer, Johnson-Thompson kicked off the year with European Indoor gold in the pentathlon. She closed the year with victory in Doha 2019.

Voting will open to the public during the live Sports Personality of the Year programme on BBC One on Sunday, 15 December.
