Ashanti Moore returens with win at JC meet 2020

Ashanti Moore won the Class 1 girls’ 200m dash at the Queen’s/Grace Jackson Meet in Kingston today, 25 January 2020.

Moore, who opened her season at JC with 11.74 in the 100m, returned today with 24.06 in the half-lap event.
Ackera Nugent of Excelsior took second in 24.13 while Moore’s teammate, Taffara Rose, ended fourth overall in 24.14.

Rose won the 100m hurdles in 13.89.

Hydel took the two spots in Classes 3 and 4. Alana Reid, 24.68 beat Alliyah Baker, 24.91 in Class 3 while Shemonique Hazel, 25.12 beat Jody-Ann Daley, 25.24 in Class 4.

Clarendon College’s Dejanea Oakley topped Class 2 in 24.45 ahead of Hydel’s Shenese Walker, 24.60.

Honours were shared in the boys’ 200m.

St. Jago’s pair of Javari Thomas, 21.13, a meeting record, and Kavian Kerr, 21.41, were the top boys in Class 1.

Wolmer’s Jelani Gordon won Class 2 in 21.75 while Kingston College’s (KC) pair of Jordan Mowatt, 23.28 and Jevaughn Powell, 23.49 were the top Class 3 boys.

Hydel also won two of the three 400m events. Garriel White won Class 1 in 54.05 and Oneika McAnnuff Class 2 in 54.66, a new meeting record.

KC were winners in two of the 400m finals. Emmanuel Rwotomiya, 49.66 won Class 2 and Mowatt topped Class 3 in 52.87.
Demar Francis of Excelsior was the Class 1 winner in 47.58s.

St. Jago’s Vashaun Vascianna ran a record 13.73 to take the Class 1 boys’ 110m hurdles.

In the field, Raymond Richards of Buff Bay cleared 2.10m to equal Lushane Wilson’s U20 boys’ high jump record.
Aaron Thomas of KC leapt a record 6.34m, beating the previous mark of 6.18m, to take the Class 3 boys’ long jump.

Cedricka Williams of Holmwood bettered the 40.51m old record with 42.93m in the Class 1 girls’ discus throw.

  1. based on yesterday…any money for Moore to beat Davis in any sprint event is wasted money…22,86 converts to 22 low on mondo…unless Moore playing possum…

  2. Big showdown in Class 1 100m finals, if both reach the finals, between Kevona and Ashanti. Historically, Ashanti has not focused on 200m. I think she trains for the 100/200, she will equally competitive as Kevona.
