Kevona Davis and Ashanti Moore could face-off over 200m at the 2020 Central Athletics Championships

Ashanti Moore, despite her absence from competition since early February, admitted she is healthy and ready to challenge for the Class 1 girls’ 100m title at Champs 2020.

Hydel’s Moore pending Class 1 girls’ 100m clash with Edwin Allen’s Kevona Davis is a must-see at Champs 2020. Both are powerfully built sprinters, tall and fast.

In 2019, Moore ran a personal best 11.17 to win the Class 1 girls’ event while Davis, then final year 2, ran 11.19. However, Davis personal best is 11.16, which gave her Champs honours in 2018.

Since Champs 2019, Moore has only run two 100m and one 200m races.

But in an Observer story on Sunday, she answered fans who expressed concerns over her fitness.
“Well the both of us are healthy [and] it will be a very competitive race,” explained Moore about herself and Davis.

Veronica Campbell-Brown holds the Champs Class 1 girls’ record of 11.13, set back in 2001.
“It’s a possibility that the record will go,” Moore told the Jamaica Observer.

Track and field experts believe Champs could see its first sub-11. The Jamaican record held by Briana Williams is 11.02.

“My aim is to get a personal best, regardless of the position [in which] I finish,” concluded Moore.

  1. i think kevona got this, last year in the digicel grand pree 200 finals, davis blew away more easily, altho that was 200, the manner in which she beat more, i think she will win the 100

  2. First of all Julian Alfred is attending university of Texas she is a sophomore she is still going to school so I don’t know what you are talking about she went pro get ur fax straight

  3. My only concern for kevona Davis her starting, she can’t afford to left in the blocks especially if Ashanti is in the same race she going to lose. My opinion I think Ashanti going to beat her if you notice how hydel coaching staff don’t allow her to do too much track this year.

  4. Urel Sawyers, Moore will be too old by Carifa, she’ll be 20. I wish both only the best. In the end, both rep the flag.

  5. Patrick Dacosta To be fair, most times were slow even the Clayton twins. At least Davis has shown her well being. Word is Moore may be carrying an injury. It is reported that she is declaring her fitness but talk is cheap. Why wouldn’t she be interested in competing at Carifta though?

  6. I don’t believe Davis can beat Moore I’ve been to Champs and I’ve seen both Athletes compete

  7. Urel Sawyers I have, I have Seen Ashanti’s development races, maybe if yuh did you would be singing a different tune, Ashantis effort wasn’t pushed; on the other hand kevona was forced to a 11.4 to win at carifta trials.
