Adaejah Hodge scores big U17 girls 100m victory at Carifta Games 2022

British Virgin Islands (BVI) rising star Adaejah Hodge set a new National record in the women’s 100m with a time of 11.11 at the Corky/Crofoot Shootout in Lubbock, Texas.

However, Hodge was beaten into second place by Kennedy Blackmon of Oklahoma, who finished with a time of 11.06—despite this, Hodge’s time bettered her previous best of 11.13, which she set earlier this month.

Hodge also won the half-lap event, finishing in 22.31 and defeating Blackmon, who finished in 22.56.

Issam Asinga, who defeated Noah Lyles last weekend in Florida, won the men’s 100m race in a time of 9.89 seconds. James Dadzie finished in second place, crossing the line, also in 9.89secs in the 3.2m/s wind-aided race.

James Dadzie turned the tables on Issam Asinga in the men’s 200m event, winning with a time of 19.79. Courtney Lindsey finished second with a time of 19.94, and Asinga finished third with a time of 19.97.

Adaejah Hodge and Issam Asinga are both scheduled to compete against Jamaican high school stars at the Puma East Coast International Showcase in Maryland next weekend.

Jamaican Demisha Roswell, representing Texas Tech, won the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.89. She beat her teammate Naomi Krebs, who finished in 13.25.

Rushana Dwyer, representing South Plains, finished third in the women’s 400m race, finishing with a time of 54.13. Grace Obour of Western Texas won the event with a time of 52.71.

In the men’s 400m, South Plains’ pair of Kimar Farquharson and Jeremy Bembridge finished in third and fourth place, respectively, both with a time of 46.28. Zarik Brown of Oklahoma won the event.

Gregory Prince, also of South Plains, finished in sixth place with a time of 46.61.
