Nugent, who is in her first year at Baylor University, sizzled to 7.91s, the same time American Grace Stark ran for the world mark in 2020. Nugent’s previous best was 8.08s.

However, Stark, who also ran 7.93 the day before, is yet to have any of her times ratified by World Athletics.

Klaudia Siciarz of Poland, according to World Athletics, is the official record holder with 8.00s. She achieved the mark in 2017.

Tara Davis of Texas Longhorn finished a distant second behind Nugent in 8.22.

Gabrielle McDonald, the other Jamaican in the event, booked her place in the final with 8.20.

Kevona Davis won heat two of the women’s 60m dash. She ran 7.31 to beat Demitra Carter of Baylor, 7.51.
Davis’ Texas Longhorn teammate Kynnedy Flannel leads the qualifiers with 7.23.

Former Edwin Allen star Davis will also qualify for the women’s 200m. She ran 23.20 to win her section.
Flannel again leads the field with 22.79.

Jamaicans Stacey-Ann Williams and Kavia Francis qualified for the women’s 400m final. Williams, representing Texas Longhorn, won heat four in 52.74, and Francis finished second in heat three in 53.62.
