Kingston College (KC) ended Saturday’s (Feb 23) Gibson McCook Relays 2019 in elegant style at the National Stadium.
The North Street-based school dominated the night’s final event, the 4x400m open for boys, for an overall six of 11 relays victories – 4x100m classes 2, 3 & 4; 4×200 classes 2 & 3.
The other finals went to five different schools.
In the highly anticipated 4x400m final, KC took the top spot in the competitive contest, running across the line in 3 minutes 10.99 seconds.
Holmwood Technical, right in the mix on the final leg, was relegated to second in 3:10.36 while Calabar with an impressive anchor leg, finished third in 3:13.65.
On the girls’ side, Hydel, the dominant team for the last three years, took the top spot in 3 minutes, 42.44 seconds.
Spaldings produced a gallant effort to take second in 3:42.64 and Petersfield, third in 3:44.29.
A team from St. Vincent and the Grenadines ended 6th in 3:54.68.
Racers with Zharnel Hughes on the third leg, outclassed their opponents to take victory in 3:05.98. Sprintec with Demish Gaye on anchor finished second in 3:06.27.
Sprintec topped the women’s event in 3:32.74 ahead of Swept 3:34.45 and GC Foster College 3:37.33.
