Edwin Allen and St. Jago retained their Central Champs titles on Wednesday at GC Foster College.
The Frankfield-based girls finished with 366 points, 21.5 more than second-place finishers Hydel 345.5 and St. Jago 306.5.
Holmwood 279, Vere 131, St. Catherine 79.5, Spaldings 61, Manchester 59.5, Clarendon 30 and Bellefield 28 rounded off the top 10 girls schools.
On the boys’ side, St. Jago secured a massive victory by scoring 348 points. The Monk Street-based boys finished well ahead of Edwin Allen 195.5 and Clarendon 105.
Holmwood 93.5, Charlemont 81, Bellefield High 70, St. Catherine 55, Enid Bennett 50, Garvey Maceo 47 and Bridgeport 38 were the other teams in the top 10.
St Jago High and Edwin Allen High were each presented with $250,000 for winning the boys and girls’ titles.
Hydel High (girls) and Edwin Allen (boys) walked away with $100,000 each for second place finishes, while St Jago (girls) and Garvey Maceo (boys) received $50,000 each for third place finishes.
Edwin Allen outstanding sprinters Tia Clayton and Kevona Davis were among the athletes who accounted for records on the day.
Tia Clayton won the Girls’ Class 3 100m final in 11.37 seconds to shatter the record of 11.70 seconds she set in the preliminary round.
St Jago’s Brianna Lyston, who tan 11.78 in 2018 for the old record, was beaten by Tia’s twin sister Tina 23.77 to 24.03 in the 200m final.
Davis proved a cut above the field, winning the Girls’ Class 2 200m in 23.24 seconds to erase the previous record of 23.61 seconds she set in 2018.
The St Jago pair of Joanne Reid (23.99) and Thennelle Williams (24.04) finished second and third respectively.
