COLUMBIA, South Carolina – Danielle Williams sizzled to a huge personal best at Saturday’s (8 Feb) Gamecock Invitational. She clocked a fast 7.86 seconds to top the 60m obstacle event.

Williams’ time beat her 8.02 previous best set back in 2015, the year she went on to win the Beijing world 100m hurdles title. American Kendra Harrison with 7.81 is the world leader.

Jamaican Sydney Marshall, 8.39 was fourth behind Jasmine Jones, 8.12 and Caitlyn Little, 8.31.

Also, another Jamaican Andre Ewers topped the men’s 60m dash field. He won in in 6.66 (and 6.61 in heats) over Marcus Parker, 6.67 who topped the 200m in 20.81.

Ashinia Miller won the men’s shot put with 19.28m. The next best thrower was Eric Favors with 18.27m

In the men’s 60m hurdles, Jamaican Jovaine Atkinson finished third in 7.75. Devon Brooks, 7.71 won the event ahead of Stephon Torrance 7.73.

Meanwhile, World-leading 24.70m in the weight throw by Daniel Haugh was the day’s highlight.

Myles Pringle, 46.36 was the top quarter-miler over Kyle Clemons 46.47 and Trevor Stewart 46.58. Guyanese Arinze Chance finished fourth in 46.93

Canadian Crystal Emmanuel won the women’s 60m in 7.24 ahead of Cambrea Sturgis in 23.06.

Myles Pringle in 46.36 beat Kyle Clemons 46.47 in the 400m. Haley Teel improved in women shot to 18.12m.
