Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce after running 11.33 at the Cayman Invitational on June 2, now ready for JN Racers Grand Prix on June 9, 2018

Organisers of the Racers Grand Prix have decided to pull the plug on the 2020 staging. The event was set for 12 June 2020 but was postponed.

The Glen Mills-led group has decided to turn their attention to 2021 for the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold Meeting.

The Gleaner quoted Mills describing the decision as “deeply disappointed” to cancel the meet.

“For the health and safety of all participants and stakeholders, we must look ahead to 2021 for the return of Racers Grand Prix,” he said.

Wayde Van Niekerk and Noah Lyles along with Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Elaine Thompson-Herah, were just a few of the over 200 athletes who have expressed an interest for the event.

The coronavirus, which has killed over 413,000 worldwide, caused many events to be postponed or cancelled since March.
