Jordon Turner wins at McKenley-Wint Track & Field Classic held at Calabar High School

Hydel girls dominated the sprints while Calabar boys stood out in the field at last Saturday’s (18 Jan) McKenley-Wint Track & Field Classic held at Calabar High School.

Hydel won three of the girls’ 100m finals. They topped Classes 1, 2 and 4 with Shenese Walker, 11.83 in Class, Oneika Wilson, 11.99 and Shemonique Haze, 12.36.
Haze also won the Class 4 girls’ long jump with 5.20m.

In the sprint hurdles, Hydel won three of the four finals. Oneika Wilson took the Class 2 100m hurdles in 13.48 while Taffara Rose was the Class 1 winner in 13.96s. Shanaia Myers topped the Class 3 girls’ 80m hurdles in 11.66 ahead of Habiba Harris of St. Elizabeth Tech 11.79.

In the Class 4 girls’ 70m hurdles, Jaida Carey of Immaculate was the only sub-11 runner with 10.89.

National representative and Mount Alvernia’s Carleta Bernard was the Class 3 girls’ 100m dash winner in 12.12s.

In the field, Calabar standout with six victories.

Shadane Adamson won the javelin open with 53.14; Renaldo Savoury, the pole vault open with 4.20m and Daniel Bayeshea 16.11m in the Class 1 shot put. The other winners were Tarique George 54.97 in Class 1 discus, Jordon Turner 7.48m in Class 1 long jump and Kobe Lawrence threw 17.44 for the Class 2 shot put title.

Calabar also won two of the boys’ sprint hurdles. David Williams topped the Class 2 110m event in 14.44 and his teammate Zacre Braham ran away with the Class 3 100m event.

Jordani Woodley of Rusea’s was the Class 1 boys’ 110m hurdles winner in 14.15. He beat St. Jago’s Damar Marshall, 14.38.

Jamaica College (JC) won two of the three 400m finals, Tariq Dacres 49.66 in Class 2 and Mark Anthony Miller Class 3 in 52.27. Rahiem Scott of Rusea’s was the Class 1 winner in 47.68.

In the boys’ 100m, Jamar Treasure of St. Jago took Class 1 in 10.65; Cranston Alicke of St. Elizabeth 10.87 in Class 2 and Jason Bullens of Clan Carthy with 11.38 was the Class 3 winner.

Royan Walker of Petersfield jumped 6.74m to beat Uroy Ryan of JC 6.69m in the Class 2 boys’ long jump.
