Bybrook of Portland continue to surprise many as they hold a slim lead at the end of the third and penultimate day of the 35th INSPORTS/Seprod Primary School Athletics Championships at the National Stadium.

At the end of six finals, the Portlanders lead the combined standing with 30 points, ahead of St Benedict’s (27), Black River (25), former champions Naggo Head (20.5), Holy Family (16) and Harbour View, on 16 points.

The struggles of defending champions New Providence continues, as they are 13th in the standing on five points.

Beyonce Sinclair of Kensington placed herself at the top of the medial podium, winning  gold in the girls long jump Open. Sinclair won with a mark of 4.77 metres, ahead of Portsmouth’s Shanae Hibbert, who recorded 4.54m for silver and Tyice Richards of Holy Family, 4.49m.

Richards’ third-place finish saw Holy Family moving up the female standing  to share the lead with Naggo Head with 16 points, while St Benedict’s (11), Portland’s Bybrook (10) and Excelsior (nine) complete the top five in that category.

In the boys high jump Open, Bebetto Boyd of Harbour View took the gold medal following an intense battle that saw all three medalists recording 1.45 metres. Ronaldo Fletcher of St Benedict’s snatched the silver while Bybrook’s Ronel Smith secured the bronze.
