LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Auburn track and field team will compete at the SEC Indoor Championships Friday and Saturday at the Nutter Field House in Lexington, Ky.

“We know this weekend is going to be a war,” head coach Ralph Spry said. “I feel good that we have some of our athletes like Valentina Muzaric and Rachel Dincoff back from injury. This is the meet where you find out where you are as a team. We have had a solid season so far. We are expecting people to step it up. This meet lets me know what kind of team I have. We have to come in and compete well, as we know it is always going to be a battle. We just have to control the things we can control and that is our performances and not worry about anything else.”

Senior DJ Smith enters the meet with the conference’s top mark in the high jump. The Atlanta native cleared 7-3/2.21m at the Tyson Invitational and Husker Invitational, and ranks as the seventh-best mark in the nation.

Senior Ty McCormack holds the fourth-fastest times in the SEC in the 3000m and 5000m at 8:02.10 and 13:55.31, respectively. Junior Jessie Johnson’s clearance of 14-0.5/4.28m in the pole vault ranks fifth in the conference and sophomore Ebony Morrison and senior Samantha Scarlett hold the fourth and seventh-fastest time in the 60m hurdles at 8.22 and 8.28.

At the SEC Indoor Championships, the Tigers have won six titles and have had 115 individual champions. Under Spry, the men have totaled 22 individual conference championships and the women have secured 22 of its 30 titles.
