FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – On Monday (Jan. 26) the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association  (USTFCCCA) released its first regular season edition of the NCAA Division I National Team Computer Rankings and the Arkansas men’s track and field team checked in at No. 3.

The USTFCCCA also released the first regular season NCAA Division I Regional Rankings and the Razorbacks took the No. 2 spot in the South Central Region, behind No. 1 Texas A&M.

The national team rankings are compiled by mathematical formulae based on national descending order lists. The purpose and methodology of the rankings is to create an index that showcases the teams that have the best potential of achieving the top spots in the national team race. Rankings points do not equate with NCAA Championships team points. Preseason rankings included marks from 2014, and the National Team Computer Rankings will continue to do so through the third regular-season edition.

In their last outing the Razorbacks competed at the 2015 Rod McCravy Memorial at Nutter Field House (Jan. 23-24). The meet was initially billed as the best track meet anywhere in America all weekend. The level of competition definitely lived up to expectations, as there were 17 meet records and nine Nutter Field House records that went down during the event.

Senior Andrew Irwin won the pole vault with a mark of 5.61m/18-4.75, which gave him the McCravy Meet record, the Nutter Field House record, the top SEC mark this season and the No. 2 mark in the NCAA in 2015. The Mount Ida, Ark. native also attempted 5.81m/19-0.75 three times to close the event.

Senior Kemoy Campbell took third in the 3,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 7:55.41, while freshman Alex George placed sixth in the mile with a personal-best (4:09.42). The distance medley relay team of Cale Wallace, Eric Janise, Ryan Thomas, Kemoy Campbell earned a third-place finish with a time of 9:39.46, just three seconds behind second-place Florida and less than seven seconds behind first-place Oregon. Senior Stanley Kebenei took fourth in the 5,000 meters, crossing the finish line in 13:48.48, while Malik Broughton placed sixth in the high jump with a personal-best (6-8.25) and Eric Hawkins finished eighth in the 200 meter dash (21.64).

The Razorbacks will return to the track next weekend when they host a highly talented field in the 2015 Razorback Invitational (Jan. 30-31) at the Randal Tyson Track Center.
