McLeod, in almost  heavy downpour, easily hurdled his way to 13.27 seconds to win heat 1 of his event.

Jeff Porter of United States did not try to match McLeod and settled for second in 13.50.

The two other automatic places went to Jeffrey Julmis of Haiti, 13.66 and Antwon Hicks of Nigeria, 13.70.

Andrew Riley, in semi-final three, finished third in 13.52 to take his spot in the semi-finals. Dimitri Bascou of France, 13.31 won the heat ahead of Andrew Pozzi of Great Britain, 13.50.

In heat two, Deuce Carter, who was right there with the leaders, hit the seventh hurdle and totally loss of balance. He finished seventh in 14.02 as Orlando Ortega took the top spot in 13.32.
