Jamaica junior representative Ayesha Champagnie's record setting performance highlighted the weekend for her Barton Community College team at 41st annual Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, NE.

Freshman Champagnie concluded the opening day by rewriting the Barton record book with 3787 points in the Pentathlon. She surpassed the 3784 points recorded by Lisa Wright during the 1996 season.

Former St. Andrew Technical High (STATHS) athlete, Champagnie began her record setting day scoring 946 points with an 8.83 run in the 60m hurdles before clearing a NJCAA national qualifying height of 1.63m (5-04.25) in the high jump to earn another 771 points.

Blowing away the field by over two feet in the shot put, Champagnie bettered her existing qualifying standard by five feet taking home first place with a 13.98m (45-10-50) throw and 793 points.

Moving into the fourth event, a long jump event she has already reached national qualifying standards, Champagnie scored 657 points with a 5.35m (17-06.75) leap.

Coming down to the final and fifth grueling event of the 800m, Champagnie's 2:36.00 time was just enough to break the record with a final 620 points.
