Nesta Carter will not able to run the men’s 100m at the XV IAAF World Championships, set to start in Beijing on August 22.

Carter, who was expected to replace Kemar Bailey-Cole in the 100m, is barred from taking up the spot by the IAAF technical team here in Beijing.

According to JAAA’s general decretary Garth Gayle, who was on Thursday elected to the IAAF Technical Committee, efforts are still being made for Carter to run.

Gayle said after Bailey-Cole got hurt, Jamaica’s technical team “sought to make a substitution and at this moment we are not receiving a positive response from the IAAF.”

He, however, said as general secretary, “I have been making appeals and asked for reasons for the denial.”

Gayle said all that he has gotten so far from the technical delegate is that “the substitution is not allowed.” “I will continue that fight for Jamaica,” he ended.

Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell and Nickel Ashmeade are the other Jamaicans down for the men's 100m dash.
