Jamaica’s chances for GOLD in the men’s 4x100m at the Beijing 2015 World Championships depends heavily on the leg Usain Bolt runs.

Before I go any further, let me state this is just the opinion of this blogger.

First, let’s take a look at the possible USA team.

Trayvon Bromell with a season best of 9.84, the third fastest man this season, is likely to start.

Justin Gatlin, the fastest man in 2014 and 2015 (9.74) is expected to run the second leg, while Tyson Gay with a 9.87 season best, will run the curve and Mike Rodgers at 9.88, will run the anchor.

Let’s stop for a while and look back at the four Americans. Now you realize all have run 9.8 or faster this season.

Now, let’s analyze the Jamaicans, Nesta Carter, Kemar Bailey-Cole, Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell, Nickel Ashmeade and Andrew Fisher.

Minus Fisher, who is it said has asked to be allowed to switch to another country, here is my team and the reasons behind it. I am using the experience of Carter to start; despite the fact he is slower than Kemar Bailey-Cole and few other Jamaicans this year with 9.98. Carter may not get the better of Bromwell on this opening leg, but Jamaica will for more than one reasons, make it up on the second leg.

Bolt would be the best for Jamaica on the backstretch, because he is the only man, outside of Yohan Blake, that can destroy Gatlin. Bolt on second leg can damage Gatlin, even if the world recorder holder is not 100 per cent fit.

That is my reason for Bolt to run the second leg, though this may never happen.

On 3rd leg for Jamaica, I am going with Ashmeade, who should get a comfortable lead from Bolt.

Ashmeade 9.91 this year, should hold off Gay or keep it as close as possible for Powell 9.81 this year, on anchor, to take down Rodgers.

GOLD for Jamaica, only with Carter, Bolt, Ashmeade and Powell in that exact order.

Any other line-up would make Team USA very hard to beat.
