GLASGOW – On the final day of athletics at the Commonwealth Games, Jamaica won both games closing 4x100m finals in games records.

Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce and Usain Bolt were both on anchor legs for Jamaica.

The women’s team of Kerron Stewart, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Schillonie Calvert and Fraser-Pryce, ran 41.83secs for the fastest ime in the world this year to beat Nigeria (42.92) and England (43.10).

The men’s quartet of Jason Livermore, Kemar Bailey-Cole, Nickel Ashmeade and Bolt clocked 37.58secs to dispatch England (38.02) and Trinidad & Tobago (38.10). South African ran a NR of 38.35 for 4th.

Meanwhile, in the mile relays, 19-year-old Matthew Hudson Smith, on anchor, clocked 44.7 to bring the English 4x400m team home for gold in 3:00.46, just ahead of Bahamas (3:00.51). Trinidad & Tobago finished 3rd in 3:01.51 and Jamaica 4th in 3:02.17.

Jamaica, however, finished on top in the women’s race with a games record of 3:23.82. Nigeria (3:24.71) won silver and England (3:27.24) bronze.

Kenya’s Julius Yego threw 83.87 in the 3rd round to pocket the javelin gold, putting Kenya on top of the medal table. Trinidad & Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott (82.67) won silver and Australia’s Hamish Peacock (81.75) bronze.
