Last evening, March 4, the opening ceremony for the 2015 Bahamas National High School Track & Field Championships, was held at The Thomas A. Robinson National Track & Field Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas.

Over 1700 high school athletes, with about 800 of them residing on the various outer islands in The Commonwealth of The Bahamas, expected to intensely compete May 5-7, 2015 with intentions of gaining qualification standards for the upcoming Carifta Games, IAAF World Youth Championships and Pan American Junior Championships.

These athletes represent about 50 Bahamian High schools, which paraded through the national stadium displaying schools flags and colors led by the amazing Bahamas Urban Renewal Band.

The 2014 IAAF World relays, where three world records were set, were also held at this world-class national stadium so I anticipate some blazing times.

The title sponsors for this event are Scotiabank and BTC Bahamas.  Other sponsors are The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, The National Sports Authority (NSA) in conjunction with The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations (BAAA).
