OSTRAVA, Czech Republic – Usain Bolt will begin his European track season here on Wednesday by competing over 100 metres at the Golden Spike meeting.
Bolt is no stranger to the Czech Republic venue and thrilled the stadium last June with a victory over 200m, his favourite event, in a time of 19.83seconds.
Since then the 22-year-old Jamaican has produced a string of exhilarating performances, including his Olympic 100m and 200m double in Beijing.
He will contest the shorter distance on Wednesday in Ostrava, where he will be hoping the conditions are more favourable than at the rainswept Toronto meeting last week, where he was slowed to a time of 10.00secs.
